Janice established Southside Pet Hospital in November 2008 with the assistance and design expertise of her husband Brian. Dr. Honda graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1992 and completed Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. She then practiced as an associate veterinarian in Burlington for 15 years before opening Southside. She and Brian are the proud parents of 3 active sons: Jack, Ben and Joseph. The family is completed by Stanley the Labradoodle and Stella the Doberman Pinscher. The family is kept busy with plenty of hockey and golf.
Diana was born in Chicago and grew up in New York. Her various degrees took her through the southeast United States – Virginia, North Carolina, and finally Tennessee for veterinary school. After fourteen years in the south she was ready to go back to a real winter, so she moved to southern Ontario to pursue her veterinary career. Diana has been a veterinarian in Ontario since 2013. She lives in Hamilton with two other humans, Chris and Erin, a dog, Shenzi, and two cats, Qebui and Nephythys. She enjoys swimming, cycling, and hiking, and is training to run triathlons starting in 2016. She also spends a lot of time playing games of all kinds with her friends.
Tracy graduated from McMaster University in 2001 with a (Hons) B Sc and the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005. She practiced in Hamilton and Burlington before joining the Southside team in May 2009. In January of 2015 Tracy and Blair welcomed new daughter, Rory to the family They are also the proud owners of Quigley, a seal point Himalyan and Coconut, a sable Burmese. In her spare time Tracy is an avid hockey player. Dr. Hughes is back from maternity leave and is currently accepting new patients.
Jennifer is a registered veterinary technician and has been with the Southside team since it’s opening. She graduated from Sheridan College with an Animal Care Certificate in 2003 followed by the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College in 2005. She achieved her RVT status in January 2006. Jennifer and her husband Brent are the proud owners of Chloe, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrieve cross, Iggy the handsome brown tabby and Maddie, a Nova Scotia Duck Toller as well. In her spare time Jennifer is a competitive soccer player and curler. In January 2015 Jennifer and Brent welcomed a daughter, Jordyn has returned from maternity leave and is back with the team.
Michelle is a Veterinary Technician who joined the Southside team in July 2011. Michelle graduated from Northern College’s Veterinary Technician program in 2001 and has worked in both a laboratory and practice setting. Michelle and her husband Jonathan recently moved from Ottawa to be closer to family. They are the proud owners of Willow, an Italian Spinone. Michelle and Jon welcomed a son, Lucas, in December 2013. Michelle and Jon welcomed their second son, Drew, in October 2015, and she is on maternity leave until the fall season of 2016. Outside of work Michelle enjoys yoga, gardening, photography and traveling.
Julia joined the Southside team as a co-op student when she entered the veterinary technician program at Sheridan in 2011. Upon graduation in 2013 she obtained her full Registered Veterinary Technician status and joined our team full time. Julia is the proud owner of our clinic cat Thunder as well as her German Shepherd Ombra and her horse Naughty. In her spare time she enjoys riding Naughty and hiking with Ombra.
Ashlee joined the Southside Pet Hospital team in August 2014 and is a 2010 graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at St. Clair College. She is a proud pet parent to Linken, a handsome brown tabby. Outside of Southside Ashlee enjoys spending time with her family and friends, sports and heading up north in the summer!
Diane joined our Southside team in March 2012. Diane has an extensive background of animal care that includes the breeding and raising Chameleons as well as running a dog walking business and pet sitting. She and her husband Mark are proud parents of Danielle, currently studying design at Mohawk College and Sasha, in the kinesiology program at the University of Waterloo. The family also includes the beautiful cats Elliot and Ernie (the mischievous brothers) and Nico who tries to keep the young ones in line. In her spare time Diane enjoys outdoor activities as well as expanding her incredible artistic talent creating enamel panels.
