It’s that time again! 🗓️Charlie was in for his annual 4Dx test to check for heartworm 🪱 and tick-borne diseases! Though he was a bit nervous, he sat super still with Marie (ACA) while Julia (RVT) collected his blood—such a brave boy! 🐶Why does 4Dx testing matter?Because heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms that live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels of infected dogs. It’s spread by mosquitoes, and because early infection has no symptoms, yearly testing is crucial—even for dogs on prevention. If left undetected, heartworm disease can lead to heart failure and lung damage. And tick-borne diseases like Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis can cause joint pain, fever, lethargy, and even severe organ damage. Some dogs show no obvious signs of illness, which is why early detection is KEY 🔑.If your dog hasn’t had their 4Dx test yet, now’s the time to book it! 🩺🐾#heartwormawareness #tickprevention #4dx #heartworm #annualcheckup #vetcare #veterinarytechniciansofinstagram #vettechs #burlingtondogs #burlingtonontario #veterinarytechnician #vetvisit #tick ...
