2️⃣ Julia’s calming tone “come on Stella”![]()

Stella then froze and didn’t not want to walk any further![]()

3️⃣ Julia chose to carry Stella, instead of forcing her to walk. ![]()
4️⃣ Ashley’s gentle hold for blood collection ![]()
5️⃣ Julia’s positive praise “good girl”, “good job”![]()
6️⃣ Ashley’s positive praise “good girl” ![]()
7️⃣ Ashley’s gentle pet on her chest while holding the site of collection ![]()
8️⃣ Ashley’s gentle lift off the table with reassurance of “it’s okay”![]()
9️⃣ Julia’s final praise of “good job”![]()

9!! In this very short blood appointment, Stella received 9 different calming cues. ![]()

And even though these cues were very subtle, each and every one of them helped to make Stella’s visit less stressful. ![]()

Ollie wasn’t exactly thrilled about his vaccines, but he was such a brave boy during his appointment! 🐶 Dr. Hughes made the experience a lot less stressful with her gentle and playful approach — making sure Ollie felt as comfortable as possible.![]()

And of course, no visit would be complete without a tasty cookie to wrap things up — definitely the highlight for the big guy! 🍪💕![]()
